End of Life Options New Mexico
In addition to passing the Elizabeth Whitefield End of Life Options Act that legalized medical aid in dying in 2021, EOLONM offers educational support about all end of life options, as well as educational opportunities about life planning documents.
Dr. Leslie Kernisan
Dr. Kernisan is a Geriatrician in San Francisco. She is known for her podcast and her website Better Health While Aging that cover subjects related to aging. She also has support groups for people who are caring for aging parents. A favorite.
Advance Directive Paperwork
Documents for healthcare power of attorney, where you name an agent to convey your wishes should you be unable to do so, as well as a Living Will, which is a document that outlines your wishes for end of life care. These are essential documents for all adults; more specific documents, such as New Mexico's MOST (Medical Orders for Scope of Treatment) and DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) may be appropriate for some people, depending on their medical status and personal preferences.
